We are delighted to announce that Faithful Chiagoziem Onwuegbuche, PhD student at the UCD School of Computer Science, co-supervised with Dr Anca Delia Jurcut, has successfully passed his VIVA with only minor revisions on 28th January 2026.
Faithful’s research makes a significant contribution to advancing ransomware detection using machine learning. His work explores the use of ML to identify affective states during the phishing stage of ransomware attacks, provides empirical evidence of ransomware evolution, and investigates the detection of ransomware families and MITRE ATT&CK strategies. He has also secured a Research Ireland Industry Fellowship at Workday.
